OUR STORY

Some love stories are written over time and ours began with a chance encounter that neither of us could have imagined would one day lead us here.

We first met as college students in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, where we were both attended a conference as student leaders, Jessica from Cal State Long Beach and Alfredo from Cal State San Bernardino. Though our paths crossed briefly amid the warm ocean breeze, we became social media friends and continued on with life. It wasn't until years later that we reconnected, this time not as peers, but as two individuals grounded in purpose and ready to grow, in life and in love.

Since officially beginning our relationship in January 2021, we've celebrated incredible milestones together. Jessica has completed four travel nurse assignments across California, earned her Master's in Nursing, and now serves as a Nurse Practitioner at a Women’s Health Clinic in the Inland Empire. Alfredo transitioned from the CSU to the UC system, now proudly serving as Dean of Student Campus Life at a private university and is pursuing his doctorate in higher education administration at USC. Together, we’ve faced the trials of long-distance, supported each other through academic and professional journeys, and stood beside one another in moments of both celebration and sorrow.

From visiting four Hawaiian islands in a single year to quietly mourning the loss of loved ones who shaped us, our relationship has taught us to savor joy, honor legacy, and keep moving forward together. Through it all, we've held tightly to our shared values: our faith, our families, and our commitment to uplifting one another.

On December 14, 2025, Alfredo proposed on a cliffside in Rancho Palos Verdes, marking the beginning of our next chapter surrounded by love, support, and a beautiful view of everything ahead.

We’ve always said, “If it were easy, anyone could do it.” And now, after all the love, work, and prayers, it’s our turn to say I do.

Jessica Corral, FNP-BC

From: West Rancho Dominguez, CA

Born and raised in West Rancho Dominguez, California, Jessica’s heart has always been rooted in love, family, and service. Inspired by the passing of a beloved aunt and a promise she made in her honor, Jessica pursued a calling in healthcare, becoming a registered nurse and now a Nurse Practitioner in women’s health. Her strength and compassion guide everything she does, whether she’s supporting patients, embracing her faith, or chasing the next adventure with a beach breeze.

Jessica is known for her joyful spirit, her devotion to her family, and her unwavering kindness. She finds peace in yoga, energy in movement, and comfort in the laughter of those she loves. Of all the things she cherishes, what she loves most about Alfredo is his kindness, his deep love for both their families, and his steady presence through life’s highs and lows. In her words, “He is someone I can always count on even on my most challenging days.”

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud... Love never fails." – 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Alfredo Barcenas, MPP

From: Barstow, CA

Raised in the high desert town of Barstow, California, Alfredo’s journey has always been one of purpose. A proud first-generation Latino college graduate, he knows firsthand the transformative power of education. His passion led him to a career in student affairs, where he now serves as Dean of Student Campus Life, committed to empowering students, especially those from historically marginalized communities to lead, thrive, and succeed.

Outside of work, Alfredo finds joy in tennis, live music, thoughtful conversation, and the “occasional” In-N-Out burger. He is driven, grounded, and guided by his faith. When speaking about Jessica, he lights up: “She’s kind, caring, and selfless. She’s the kind of person who makes everything better, just by being there.”

“To our family and friends, thank you for loving us, praying for us, and walking with us on this journey. This wedding is a celebration of more than just our love, it’s a celebration of the people who shaped us, and the life we’re building together with your support.”
